Product Description: Symbol secured a market leadership in the wireless LAN switch market by utilizing an innovative central management, thin access port architecture. This same approach is extended to Wi-Fi security, allowing Symbol to provide the most comprehensive Wi-Fi security solution. Some of the key benefits of Symbol's approach include: Comprehensive Security Coverage Symbol's use of "thin" sensors allows customers to provide security coverage throughout the campus - inside the building, around the perimeter and parking lots - enabling the unprecedented ability to monitor and prevent over-the-air security threats. Built-in Redundancy Overlapping sensors provide redundancy, thus the Symbol security network will never be caught "off- guard." Central Management Sensor intelligence forwards only essential information for security analysis to the server for low-bandwidth sensor-server communications. Sensor-to-server traffic is encrypted and mutually authenticated to preserve the confidentiality of the security information. Accurate "Locationing" and Attack Detection By comprehensibly deploying "thin" sensors, a Symbol wireless network provides accurate "locationing," or pin-pointing, of malicious devices or activities. Centralized correlation makes detection of more sophisticated attacks possible.
Market Opportunity: Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) are essential security components for enterprise Wi-Fi networks today. Wireless IDS/IPS enables comprehensive security monitoring and management capability. However, these high-value systems come with a high price tag, both from a hardware and operational perspective.
