Product Description: ApLive™ provides true continuous availability for any database management system on the market today. ApLive™ virtualizes the data layer by supporting real-time transaction replication and load balancing across multiple identical active databases. With ApLive™ installed companies get more out of their IT investments and can be comfortable in the knowledge that their business applications will always be available through planned or unplanned database downtime, or even in the event of a major disaster.
Market Opportunity: ApLive™ integrates and improves on the value of clustering and replication products. The markets for replication and clustering were in excess of $2 billion annually, according to IDC in 2004. Avokia expects this market to grow as the focus on application availability and the efficient use of infrastructure continues to grow.
DEMO Says: The hurricanes of 2005 taught us a lot about the necessity — and limitations — of data center disaster recovery plans. Avokia overcomes many of those limitations by focusing replication on the lighter transaction layer. This approach enables rapid switch over and lets IT organizations leverage commodity hardware, dramatically lowering the cost of a replicated data center.
