Product Description: nComputing’s nStation products tap into the unused computer cycles of today’s PCs to enable three, seven or 30 simultaneous users on a single PC. Market Opportunity: The Gartner Group predicts that there will be 850 million new-placement PCs in emerging markets from 2005 to 2015. DEMO Says: In a DEMO conference keynote a couple of years ago, I predicted the move to server-based computing. We’ve seen fast movement on that front around web-based applications, but the desktop is still firmly a part of today’s computing infrastructure for many reasons, not the least of which is performance. nComputing brings to market a complete package of hardware and software that will accelerate this market migration. Its server-based solution brings value immediately to the K- 2 education market, and it may well be the system that realizes the sub-$100 computer dream of folks like Nicholas Negroponte and Bill Gates.
