Product Description
Kutano is the gateway to unbiased information -- a ubiquitous public forum for sharing information side-by-side on any Web page. Kutano understands the subject of the Web page, avoiding any issues due to the Internet’s dynamic nature. This allows people to obtain the right information at the right time, before they have to ask. Kutano is democratizing content on the Internet, allowing users to say what they want, where they want to say it.
Market Opportunity
Upon its launch (March 1 at DEMO), Kutano will draw from the 226 million Internet users in the U.S. and Canada (Internet World Stats). According to Forrester Research, more than a third of these users are currently active in forums. For revenues, Kutano will tap into the $22 billion Internet ad revenue market (for 2008; Internet Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCooper LLP), an ad segment that is still experiencing double-digit growth despite current economic conditions.
DEMO Says
Kutano calls its product "a gateway to unbiased information," and, while apt, it doesn't convey the true depth of the technology. Allowing anyone to place information - comments, questions, complaints - side-by-side with any Web page, Kutano creates conversations across the Internet. What's really interesting, though, is that those conversations sustain across similar pages. So the Harry Potter hardback page on Amazon will feature identical conversations to the Harry Potter paperback page. The comments are tied to the subject of the page, rather than the URL. It's a brilliant take on commenting technology, with the potential to shake up a thriving, competitive sector.
