Competitors
No direct competitors in "indoor" location-based services (LBS).
Product Description
Micello is Google Maps inside a building. We provide maps of interesting places that people visit: shopping malls, convention centers, college campuses, theme parks, stadiums, and many more, and allow our users to navigate and explore these places right from their mobile phone. Each map is personalized depending on interests, profile, usage history and areas of interest. The search capability helps you find products, people, and events inside these communities.
Market Opportunity
Gartner forecasts the outdoor LBS market to be $2.2 billion in 2009 and expects it to grow to $8 billion in 2011. Micello is laying the foundation for an "indoor" LBS ecosystem by providing geocoded, interactive maps of indoor places and APIs to manipulate these maps.
DEMO Says
Micello is doing the hard, hard work of mapping public spaces -- indoors. These public spaces -- airports, malls, hotels, campuses -- are impervious to GPS signals to enable location-based services. Micello maps dont have that problem. The company will seed applications to demonstrate the power of its map data. Its APIs will allow a lot of clever people to build compelling indoor location services that leverage its map data set.
