Offline there are rideshare programs, and there are also Web-based rideshare communities. But these can only provide longer-distance rides well in advance of the departure date. We do see taxi-sharing services around Europe and the U.S., but we see nothing like flinc in the market yet.
Product Description
flinc is a real-time ride sharing system. It connects Internet-enabled navigation systems with mobile phones. flinc arranges free seats in cars within a few seconds on short rides through real-time analysis of traffic movements. flinc finds all drivers that could potentially pick up the person requiring a ride. After a driver has agreed to pick up the requesting person, he is redirected via GPS to the requirer's location. The payment is transferred automatically.
Market Opportunity
A Nokia study sees the global market potential of dynamic rideshare at $675 billion. For Germany alone, more than 140,000 daily trips could be made in 2014 through flinc. Much like ZipCar grew via urban adoption, the market opportunity applies to all suburban areas or locations.
