Enablers and Sea-Changers
It's easy to get caught up on the consumer-facing applications that are the everyday face of the current market transformation. Those applications, though, demand new capability, capacity and infrastructure… and new ways of thinking about information engagement. The Future: Through the Eyes of Young Innovators
The future, it has become cliché to say, is in the hands of youth. If DEMOfall is about the near-term impact of the products and technologies, these three young innovators are all about the technologies, trends and products we'll face in the future. The Kauffman Foundation has identified and supported these young people who share with you their vision of the road ahead.Moderator: Chris Shipley, DEMOfall 07

Take a Meeting... Please!
We spend half our business lives in meetings and the other half arranging and preparing for them. We don't need more meetings, but we do need better, more organic tools for organizing and preparing them. That's what these tools offer.Taking the “Small” out of Small Business
Small businesses are serious, agile businesses. But they’ve gotten little respect from the software industry for far too long. These entrepreneurs and executives need sophisticated tools to run their sophisticated businesses regardless of size.... and finally, they are getting them.Your Media, Your Way
How do you want to consume, create, gather, review, analyze, digest, share and store media? Does it really matter? These days, it's fair to expect that you can get media as you want it, when you want it. These products make it so.

The Search Continues
We continue to search for the ultimate in search: the technology that lets us find the needle while still exploring the haystack.Building Trust
Perhaps the biggest barrier to next-generation Internet computing is trust. Even as the technology brings people closer together, it raises questions about vulnerability, security and authenticity. Who do you trust? How do you verify?Marketing 2.0: The Customer in Charge
More than most any vertical, the concepts fueling Web 2.0 and social media are changing the face of advertising, marketing and customer outreach, fueling a period of tremendous experimentation and exploration. In our search for the future of customer marketing, we found these ideas intriguing.Life Is Mobile
The fall DEMO conference began with a focus on mobile computing. These days, the term “mobile computing” is redundant. Our mobile lifestyles demand anytime, anywhere access to communications, resources, entertainment and applications that have become mainstream to our daily consumption of information.

NVCA VC Dinner</3>
DEMO offers the chance to witness the launch of 70 well-vetted new technologies that are built and ready to hit the market. Unlike the continuous stream of business plan pitch events in the valley, DEMO delivers real products that can be seen and touched—all before the market or your competitors have a go at them. Experience an untapped source of new companies and entrepreneurs at that special moment in time when an idea turns into reality and possibilities turn into opportunities.
As an added benefit, your NVCA hosts will be holding an exclusive VC-only Dinner and Dialogue on the evening of Monday, September 24, from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM to kick-off DEMOfall 07.
Venture Capital: A Monogamous Investment Vehicle or Strange Bedfellow?
This interactive discussion, moderated by Mark Heesen, President, NVCA, will seek to discover where VCs are positioning themselves in today's marketplace.
- Are they part of private equity or still a distinct financing mechanism?
- Are the lines blurring between hedge funds, buyouts, and angel and traditional venture capital investing?
- If so, what are the ramifications?
A panel of industry experts and thought leaders will join Mark on stage, including:
- Axel Bichara, Partner, Technology, Atlas Venture
- Ken Lawler, General Partner, Silicon Valley, Battery Ventures
- Bill McAleer, Managing Director, Voyager Capital
- Gary Morgenthaler, Partner, Morgenthaler Ventures
Whether you’re an investor attending DEMO for the first or fifteenth time, this insightful conversation and exceptional VC-to-VC networking opportunity will leave you with investor-specific insight you can readily use to optimize your time at DEMOfall 07.
Please be sure to RSVP for the NVCA dinner when you register, and arrive early to join us.
PLEASE NOTE: Attendance is reserved for NVCA members and other VC executives ONLY and is subject to approval. If you are not an NVCA member, nor currently working for a venture capital/private investment firm, we thank you for your interest but we will be unable to confirm your attendance for this closed door event.
