Product Description

MindTouch unveils the Wiki Smart Appliance: the first on-premise, plug-and-play, maintenance-free wiki appliance designed for businesses. Sold as a turn-key server solution or downloadable virtual machine, it’s the easiest way to build a vibrant collaboration environment behind the firewall utilizing standards-based wiki technology. Capabilities include an advanced WYSIWYG editor, page hierarchies, file attachments on any page, semantic organization, indexing and searching, secure offsite backup and the ability to create wiki mash-ups.

Market Opportunity

According to Gartner, wikis will become mainstream in at least 50% of enterprises by 2009. According to Forrester Research, there are 1.4 million businesses in the service industry with 5 to 1,000 employees, of which 75% or more are information workers. Research indicates that less than 5% of these businesses have an internal Website to share information. Assuming an average sale of $5,000 and 50% growth in adoption of internal Websites, the market size would be over $2 billion in the United States.

Demo Says

As information moves to the end points of networks, businesses lose the leverage they need to bring business information back into the organization. MindTouch returns that leverage by providing an easy-to-implement wiki appliance that acts as a collecting point for institutional knowledge. While there are a number of web services that deliver wiki functionality to businesses, MindTouch carves new ground by combining flexibility and ease of deployment with full behind-the-firewall security.
