- Citrix XenDesktop promises to bring desktop virtualization to mass deployment by delivering the first truly viable solution to market. It delivers a level of user experience that will in many cases make a virtual desktop perform faster than a traditional PC desktop, provides a fully integrated solution that is easy to deploy and manage, and maintains the lowest total cost of ownership by minimizing network storage and support costs.
- Market Opportunity
- A recent Credit Suisse report estimates that desktop virtualization will be a $1.5 billion market by 2011 with approximately 25.6 million end users representing 5.7% of the professional desktop PC installed base.
- DEMO Says
- The move toward virtualization of the enterprise computing environment is marching from the data center to the desktops, but not without plenty of performance and scalability hurdles to clear. Through experience and customer trials, Citrix has been able to overcome those obstacles. Its XenDesktop architecture streams the virtual desktop to the client device, easing manageability in the data center and delivering performance at the desktop.
