- Funding Details
- As of May 2006, StackSafe had received $2.6 million in Series A financing from Novak Biddle Venture Partners and Chart Venture Partners. StackSafe plans to raise $10 million during a Series B round of funding. It is anticipated that 50% of this funding will be provided by StackSafe’s existing venture investors, including conversion of $4 million in bridge financing as well as fresh capital. Series B proceeds will be used for sales, marketing, continued product development and infrastructure.
- Competitors
- No direct competitors. StackSafe is the first provider of a virtualized pre-production staging environment combined with automated testing, analysis and reporting for IT operations teams. In the development and quality assurance space, there are vendors focused on virtualized lab management solutions, including Surgient and VMware Lab Manager, as well as automated test bed platforms for application development teams, such as HP Mercury and IBM Rational.
- Product Description
- StackSafe Test Center is the first staging and testing solution that enables IT operations teams to understand the business impact of changes — before they touch production systems. Using virtualization technology, Test Center helps IT operations improve uptime and resiliency through easy-to-use, enhanced software infrastructure testing. Test Center directly addresses the current problem of incomplete and ineffective IT operations staging and testing of changes to complex, multi-tiered software infrastructure stacks.
- Market Opportunity
- The StackSafe Test Center is designed for departments and groups in enterprises with 1,000 or more employees. According to JP Garbani of Forrester Research, 50,000 companies fit this description worldwide. Based on this figure, StackSafe estimates the untapped market for pre-production staging and testing solutions to be $1.6 billion and growing.
- DEMO Says
- IT organizations face a Hobson’s choice: be adaptive to changing needs of their user base or ensure that the enterprise computing environment is free from disruption. Change the software environment and put the businesscritical applications at risk. Opt for stability over flexibility and end user productivity may be lost. StackSafe eliminates that choice, enabling IT to test in a sure and virtual environment before rolling out change to production networks. The service is easy to buy, install, and use and substantially reduces the business risk of IT infrastructure change.
