JockTalk is differentiated from competitors by its unique content, ad-based revenue model, and traffic acquisition leveraging syndication. Competitors that aggregate content include Zoodig, SportsBuzz, and WhoSay (the latter two companies offer some original content). Zoodig and SportsBuzz utilize a subscription revenue model, while WhoSay is free to access.
Market Opportunity
Professional athletes have adopted social media en mass – 75% of NBA players, 50% of NFL players, and over 33% of MLB players are on Twitter. Digital revenues for U.S. sports sites are expected to reach $2.9 billion in 2012.
